St Paul's Foundation - Lights of Hope
|
Dear Mr. Dingley,
On behalf of our patients, residents, caregivers and all of the staff at each of our hospitals and sites, I would like to personally thank you for helping to make our 2017 Lights of Hope campaign a success. Your support helped enable us to raise a total of $3.1 million which will help fund equipment, life-saving research, services and community programs. I have included some examples of how Lights of Hope dollars have helped support patient care on the reverse of this letter. This year marked the 20th anniversary of Lights of Hope which gave us an opportunity to reflect on the generosity of our community and of partners like you who help bring this campaign together. Over the past 20 years, Lights of Hope has raised over $34 million, proving that every donation, every contribution adds up to make a great impact on the care we can provide. Your partnership helps light up our St. Paul’s display, creating a visual representation of community support and hope to those who need it most. George Keulen, a patient who spent 200 days in St. Paul’s waiting for a double lung transplant, had this to say about what Lights of Hope means to him: “It was 2009. I was in St. Paul’s over Christmas, in a room on the fifth floor facing Burrard Street. On the night the Lights of Hope were lit, I remember hearing a lot of noise outside but I didn’t know what was going on. All of a sudden, fireworks go off right outside my window. It was amazing to see. Then I hear cheering. So often in the hospital, you feel isolated. It’s like people don’t want to think about people who are sick. Perhaps it’s that sickness reminds us of our own mortality. But for that moment, amidst the lights and the cheers and the crowd below, I was reminded that people do care. Even though we may not like to think about being sick, we want to help those who are. We care about each other. This brought great comfort to me. I was very sick at that time, very frightened, but that night a spirit of hope stirred within me.” It is thanks to the volunteer contributions from partners like you that make this campaign possible. Thank you again for your support which helped make our 2017 campaign such a success. Sincerely, Dick Vollet President & CEO |
St Paul's Foundation - Lights of Hope
Dear Mr. Dingley,
On behalf of St. Paul's Hospital Foundation, we would like to thank you for your generous ongoing support of our Lights of Hope campaign as an In-Kind Donor. I am please to share that we raised more than $3 million for St. Paul's greatest needs. Over the past 19 years, thanks to donors like aDB Engineering, Lights of Hope has raised over $31.7 million. These funds help attract world-leading physicians and researchers, purchase equipment and support innovative clinical or research projects at St. Paul's. This past year, donations to Lights of Hope provided funding to over 50 program areas throughout the hospital, such as: - Take home telehealth equipment for Cystic Fibrosis patients - Reclining sleeper chairs and enhancements to the Family Nursing Room for Maternity - Blood pressure monitors for the Heart Function Clinic Lights of Hope will also help to support the men's health group, the DUDES Club (Downtown Urban Knights Defending Equality and Solidarity), a group that connects men living in Vancouver's downtown eastside with health care providers and a caring community. Every gift to Lights of Hope makes a difference. It is thanks to dedicated members of our community that St. Paul's Foundation is able to support urgent priorities that otherwise would not be funded. Thank you again for your generous support and for helping Lights of Hope at St. Paul's shine! Sincerely, Dick Vollet President & CEO |

Malibu Club - Young Life
To: aDB Engineering
Sean Dingley, Thank you very much for all your help in designing and engineering the scaffold equipment on our current construction project. Due to our remote location we often need to be innovative in our construction methods, as we cannot use cranes to install our roof system. We needed to be able to rely on the scaffold equipment to place and erect our very heavy truss systems. Your help was very much appreciated in putting this together and designing the scaffold system in such a manner that was both safe and reliable to do the work efficiently and effectively. It has worked out great and we are well on the way to completing the construction of this project at our camp. Thank you very much for your participation in our project. Harold Richert Camp Manager |

Bard on the Beach
Bard on the Beach Theatre Society highly recommends aDB Engineering as consultants for temporary structure building projects. Sean Dingley and the entire team at aDB were instrumental in ensuring that our newly manufactured 740 seat audience structure, our staging elements and our temporary tent structures were designed to code and installed as such.
Their knowledge of the BC Building Codes and Vancouver Building By-laws, as well as how these codes relate codes overseas, was a great asset to our recent Venue upgrade project. The addition of aDB to our consultant team resulted in timely installation of our structures and assurance that all building inspections would be passed without issue. This is especially important to Bard on the Beach, and the entertainment industry as a whole, due to the fixed date of Opening nights. The personal service received from the aDB team created an excellent working relationship with our project managers and site managers alike. We will certainly be contracting aDB for our future annual engineering services, as well as consulting with them on the engineering of our new Studio stage structures set to open in 2013. Robert A. Nüssli Group
During our recent working relationship with Sean on the 2010 Winter Olympics and the Empire Field temporary stadium in Vancouver, BC, we experienced a committed and professional individual. Sean's attitude and approach towards the dynamics of NUSSLI's business was refreshing and at times ventured outside the call of duty. Sean's exceptional knowledge of the local codes combined with product knowledge made him an invaluable resource and complimented our team. His contribution to the success of our projects is held in high regard with our project managers and demonstrated his ability to adapt. I would highly recommend Sean as a valuable and competitive resource for similar projects.

Make-A-Wish Canada
Thank you for your generous support of Make-A-Wish. It is so very crucial.
The dictionary will tell you that a wish is simply a hope or desire for something. However to a child facing a life-threatening medical condition, a wish is more than a desire - it's an experience that can create a life-changing impact not only for the child but for families, friends, donors, sponsors and sometimes entire communities. A wish can help renew the joy of life, or rather, the wholesome joy of being a kid. I wanted to send you the enclosed annual report to give you an update on what our team accomplished in 2008, and our vision for the future. In 2008 we were involved in the granting of 471 magical wishes. To date this year, we've granted 263 wishes and the number of wish referrals only continues to grow. Make-A-Wish is only able to grant these wishes with your support. Thank you for being part of our family, and for giving our wish children a well-deserved break from being sick. We couldn't do it without you! Jennifer Ritter CEO |
The mission of Make-A-Wish® Canada is to grant the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions to enrich the human experience with hope, strength and joy.
Along with the national office, eight regional chapters grant magical wishes to children in need from coast-to-coast. Make-A-Wish Canada is an affiliate of Make-A-Wish® International, the largest wish-granting organization in the world, making dreams and wishes come true for more than 290,000 children since 1980.

Scouts Canada
On behalf of the Scouts Canada Pacific Jamboree 2011, I would like to convey our thanks to aDB Engineering for their assistance providing services designing the climbing wall.
With our 3100 Scout Youth, Leaders, and Offers Of Service on site, this Jamboree was the largest ever held west of the Rockies, with participants from across Canada, the US, Australia and Great Britain. The "Scale the Black Tower" climbing wall was one of the highlights of the Jamboree, challenging the youth to conquer their fears and test their skills. Scouts Canada's mission is: To contribute to the education of young people, through value system based on the Scout Promise and Law, to help build a better world where people are self-fulfilled as individuals and play a constructive role in society. Your generosity has assisted the Jamboree team to provide a safe yet challenging program to the future leaders of our communities. Thank you for your kind assistance.
